A project carried out for Empresa Nacional de Electricidad de Bolivia to develop a 100 MW photovoltaic park in Oruro, the largest plant in the country to date. This facility can produce more than 100 MW, thanks to which the department of Oruro no longer needs to import energy from Cochabamba or La Paz. We supplied a total of twenty 5.5 MW power units with an SMA central inverter from 2018 to 2019 in two phases of 10 units each.

One of the major particularities of this project was the altitude, as Oruro is located on the high plateau in the western part of Bolivia, at an altitude of 3,732 metres, which implies extreme weather conditions that are unfavourable for electrical equipment (altitude, extreme temperature variations, saline environment, high wind speeds, etc.).

This is a double platform and integrates two 2,750 kVA SMA central inverters, two 2,750 kVA oil transformers with voltages of 2.9/0.6 kV, Siemens 36 kV medium voltage outdoor cells, a panel and transformer for auxiliary services, and a communications panel.

Everything was tested and programmed at our factory to shorten on site commissioning times. In addition, all construction and installation work complied with Bolivian Government codes and regulations.
