iQuord built the baggage sorting system at Palma de Mallorca Airport. A low voltage and control system for the baggage sorting system, with more than 8 kilometres of conveyor lines, 40 exit tracks, and 2 270-metre sorters. To achieve this, we used new technology from the manufacturer Siemens, the first time this had been installed at an airport. To ensure success, a 70-metre sorter prototype was first tested at its Nuremberg factory.

The installation included power supply lines for power cabinets, peripherals, emergency cabinets, as well as the installation of the profinet network. In addition, we also carried out the engineering, supply and installation of the lighting for the baggage handling area.

To carry out the project, we divided it into three stages, each starting at the end of the tourism season in November. And everything had to be installed and tested before the start of the following season, at Easter. A challenge for which we deployed a technical team of more than 40 people during those months to complete each of the stages. In some periods, our technicians worked shifts to provide the required service.
